Overview

Staying near us

If you’re staying close to us this is a viable method of transportation.

Staying near venue

If you’re staying close to the venue you’re going to have to transfer once to a tram, then another time to a bus. It’s an hour-long journey and it’s not even close to worth it.

Information that's good to know

The metro is the cheapest way to get from the airport to the city center and it’s relatively fast.

You have to buy and load a metro card at a kiosk. The card is called either Viva Viagem or 7 Colinas. It’s the same thing.

The daily ticket is €6 and lasts 24 hours after the first trip so it’s a good value if you plan on taking the metro at least 4 times a day.

The card is used twice in each journey; once when entering the metro station and again when leaving it.

When you get to the barrier, place the card on the sensor on the right side and the barrier will open. The barrier may not open if you swiped the card immediately after the previous passenger passed through.

Caution

Don’t throw away the travel card you buy. It’s reusable and you spend €.50 each time you have to get a new one.

Keep the receipt of the ticket you purchase in case something goes wrong.

Directions

If you arrive in terminal 1

As you exit the arrivals hall into the main area turn right and walk 50 meters.

Exit the building. The entrance is a big red dome.

If you arrive in terminal 2

This terminal has no direct connection to the metro or public bus services. You can either walk the 1km or take the free bus that departs every 10 - 20 minutes to terminal 1.

To lodging near the us

Once you get to the station get on the metro labeled, ‘Aeroporto – Saldanha’.

Change metros from the red line to the blue line at São Sebastião.

Get off at Avenida if you’re staying right next to us or put your Airbnb or hotel address into Google Maps to figure out which stop is closest to your lodging.

To lodging near the venue

We don’t recommend you do this unless you in for an adventure! The way can be long and varied based on what time you depart. The shortest time we found was 59 minutes but Google warns, “this may involve errors or sections not suited for walking” twice along the route.
